Maggie Creek to Wyndham Spur Road

This project was for the upgrade of a 28km section of the Great Northern Highway (GNH) between Maggie Creek to Wyndham. On completion, the project provided improved access for heavy vehicles to the Wyndham port and improved road safety. The scope of works comprised:

  • » Reconstruction and realignment of 6km of road through the Maggie’s Jump Up section, including a new northbound passing lane with a 6% gradient climb
  • » Overlay and widening of 22km of GNH between Maggie Creek and the Wyndham townsite.

Swan Stabilizers provided a number of services to the project, including project supervision, roller and loader operators, and wet plant hire. The plant used included road train side tippers, 8 wheel tippers, stabiliser, grader, bobcat, and a low loader. Our workforce averaged 50% Aboriginal participation for the project duration. Swan Traffic Management, our partner company, employed over 24 personnel on the project. Of this, 20 people were based locally with 75% being Aboriginal employees.
